Record breakers and chart toppers Ward Thomas have released the “devastating title track” (Sunday Times, Culture) from their number one album ‘Cartwheels’, out now on Sony Music / WTW Music.
Written in Nashville in 2014, the title track was the song that kick started the entire writing process for the album. Reflecting on experiences of young women (and men!) everywhere, it tells the sad tale of someone who refuses to accept that a relationship is over. The heartbreaking story is brought to life by the sisters’ stripped back vocals and beguiling harmonies.
The accompanying video was shot in various locations around London and was directed by Urban Strom (Mary J Blige). It features 22 year old twins Catherine and Lizzy performing the single, complemented by an emotionally charged ballet (by dancers Eloise Hymas and Ruben Morte), telling the sad tale of someone who refuses to accept that a relationship is over.
Ward Thomas made history with their stunning major label debut when it reached the top spot in the UK charts, by becoming the first ever UK country act to achieve the feat. On top of that extraordinary achievement, the album stayed in the top five for three weeks: a rare accomplishment.
The girls have just completed an impressive run of 16 completely sold out UK dates, including a sensational show at Bush Hall. They return to the capital in December to headline the Brooklyn Bowl, for the Christmas Country 2 Country Social before they head out for 22 dates in the spring.
