‘The Wire’ is the second single from Daniel Steer’s forthcoming solo album, the track is set for release on 27th September, produced by Tommy Gleeson (Slaves to Gravity, Feeder) and mixed by Chris Sheldon (Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters).
‘The Wire’ is a deeply personal and reflective song with meanings on several levels. You can hear the track and watch the accompanying video below;
“What an absolute powerhouse of a new song from @dansteermusic! This triumphant tune is called ‘The Wire’ and it’s from his upcoming self-titled debut album. The track feels heartfelt and urgent and I feel like he’s found now the sound that he has always wanted to be playing. It sounds like he needs to shout it from the musical rooftops and he’s doing it. He's gone solo and the project is sounding fantastic. He does it with aplomb" - Sarah Gosling, BBC Introducing
‘The Wire’ is the second single from Daniel Steer’s forthcoming solo album due for release on 15th November. Like his recently released first single ‘Green’, ‘The Wire’ comes from some dark times, yet it is a song of hope and redemption, of conquering demons, taking back control and emerging as a stronger person. The reflective verses crescendo into an anthemic, emotive and rousing chorus.
Daniel says, “On one level The Wire is a love song, but it also refers to the network within us connecting us to ourselves and to others, and how the choices we make to feed that network can either liberate or destroy us. It deals with how we self medicate with substances to make us feel better, but in reality the medicine of choice can be poison making us worse. It is a song of hope and recognising what we are doing to ourselves and becoming stronger because of it.
"Making this video with the awesome team at Sitcom Soldiers was such a positive experience. I have been really looking forward to sharing "The Wire" video as I'm excited about gigging my solo album and this video gives a glimpse as to how the songs will be performed live."
As frontman and songwriter for rock band Reigning Days, Daniel’s music has been played in the UK and internationally on BBC Radio 1, Radio X, Amazing Radio, Planet Rock, Virgin and Kroq and he has had tracks in the Top 10 in the Kerrang!, Scuzz and MTV charts and was Number 1 on Apple Rock.
