Glasgow’s Dead Pony are charging into a new era — louder, bolder, and more unapologetically themselves than ever. The band have announced their new EP Eat My Dust! will land on 15th May 2026 via ADA, marking their first major release since their acclaimed 2024 debut album Ignore This, which earned them a Scottish Album of the Year nomination and a run of independent chart success.
Fronted by the fire‑and‑grit vocals of Anna Shields, with Blair Crichton on guitar, Liam Adams on bass and Euan Lyons on drums, Dead Pony have carved out a reputation for fusing alt‑rock, punk and nu‑metal into something volatile, hook‑heavy and impossible to ignore. Eat My Dust! looks set to push that formula even further.
Alongside the EP announcement comes the band’s blistering new single ‘Freak Like Me’, a track that feels like a sweaty, neon‑lit love letter to the outsiders.
“Freak Like Me is a love letter to the outsiders in society, the ones who never quite fit the mould and stopped trying to,” says Shields. She cites the chaotic, communal energy of Glasgow’s Priory Bar, a haunt for young musicians and misfits, as the emotional core of the song. “There was this unspoken understanding that no one had to pretend. That’s the spirit I wanted to bottle, a space where being a ‘freak’ isn’t just accepted; it’s celebrated.”
The accompanying video captures that same raw, unfiltered spirit, a world where sweat, noise and self‑expression collide.
Speaking on the EP, Shields and guitarist/producer Crichton describe Eat My Dust! as a turning point:
“We’re stepping into a whole new era of Dead Pony, one that feels bigger, bolder, and more unapologetically us than anything we’ve ever done before.”
They lean heavily into early‑2000s influences, but insist this isn’t nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, it’s about reshaping familiar textures into something unpredictable and distinctly theirs.
“There’s chaos and energy running through every track, but underneath it is a band pushing themselves to evolve. We’ve taken more risks, experimented more, and stepped outside our comfort zone.”
The EP’s six‑track run, What If?, Eat My Dust!, Freak Like Me, BOOM!, Fury, Lost Inside Of Me, promises a snapshot of a band sharpening their edges and embracing their identity with full force.
