We've been following and supporting Kid Apollo since 'Wrong Foot Forward' in October 2021 and we're happy to cover his new EP 'Four Fires'.
For those who are unfamiliar with the name, Kid Apollo is Rory Mullan's alias, a singer-songwriter and bedroom producer from Derry. The musician likes to blend different genres at once, making it impossible to put his music in a box. Kid Apollo experiments with various styles following his creative vision. No two songs are the same, yet each carries an unmistakable flow and melodic drive that Kid Apollo is making into his very own sound.
This 4th EP sets a new level for the singer - indeed, it is the first time that he recorded in a professional studio thanks to Help Musicians and left his bedroom's studio.
More than just music, the 4 tracks from 'Four Fires' follow the artist's challenging Summer. As he explains: “The central theme of fire seemed to follow me around all Summer when making 'Four Fires', and at a time in my life when everything seems to be constantly changing and challenging me, it felt right that the EP I was making would reflect the idea of having to relax and be okay with the things you were comfortable and familiar with "burning" around you. From lead single 'Smokescreen' to the title track itself, each song on the EP represents a feeling of unease and circumstances slipping beyond your control. 'Four Fires' is the sound of standing still amid the chaos.”
