While their debut album Feed the Moon is expected for early 2021 on Die Laughing Records, Golden Robots and Secret Pole Dance Music, LA rockers Yard Of Blondes will unveil a new banger that could very well end between Queens of the stone age and Royal Blood on your favourite playlist. The track was produced by Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and mixed by Michael Patterson (Nine Inch Nails, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, etc) in Los Angeles over the last 8 years… Yep… 8 freaking years!
Yard Of Blondes almost never released this song and the upcoming album. They were caught in a series of events (line up changes, financial struggles and mental health issues to name a few) that constantly delayed the recording of the debut album. Of course, after all of this, what a better time than a global pandemic and an uncertain election season with social justice movements to release the track?
“There’s a sense of urgency”, says Vincent, the lyricist and front man of YOB. “With everything that’s happening now, you want to make sure things go out before we all end up in a big explosion”.
Joking aside, this track carries an important message as it deals with gaslighting as a form of oppression against women. “This form of emotional abuse is still common and we think it deserves more attention,” states Fanny, the bass player of the band.
The track is a full on affair from the get go, crunching, heavy riffed guitars, a driving rhythm section and duelling vocals all combine to create a track that grabs you by the scruff of your neck and commands your attention….
Yard Of Blondes started as a French duet who relocated to the US in 2010 when Vincent & Fanny got lost in the California desert to start a new life.
There, they were first highlighted by the Hi-Desert local scene and appeared as guests on the compilation Highway 62 Love Songs featuring internationally renowned artists Eric Burdon (The Animals) and Victoria Williams.
After a long series of concerts at some of the greatest venues in Los Angeles (The Troubadour, Whisky A GoGo, The Viper Room, The Bootleg, The Montalban Theatre, The Crest, etc), Rodney Bingenheimer, the legendary KROQ/SIRIUS XM DJ began playing their title track “Murderology,” in 2013. He was subsequently imitated by more than 100 international radio stations.
On December 1st, 2014, Yard Of Blondes started to get more and more famous in France. This was due to the national broadcast of the one-hour documentary, “Joshua Trip.” The film is a road trip with Vincent & Fanny as hosts, a journey where they perform and write a song “Born Again,” during some desert sessions.
In 2016, Yard Of Blondes was featured on the compilation I love you all the Time along with Eagles Of Death Metal, Florence & The Machine, Kings Of Leon, Jimmy Eat World and many more. All the proceeds were given to the victims of the Paris attacks.
During the summer of 2019, Yard Of Blondes came back with a lighter and more upbeat single called “Je veux danser tout l’été” their first original bilingual song. A remix was produced by Joachim Garraud (David Bowie, Beyonce, etc) in his new spaceship; a 100% solar-powered RV turned into a recording studio, in the middle of the Mojave desert which is documented in the Music video. The song was broadcasted worldwide and landed on MTV in Europe.
Yard of Blondes recently finished producing their debut album Feed the Moon. The record was produced by Billy Graziadei (founder member of Biohazard) in Los Angeles at Firewater Studios, mixed by Michael Patterson (Nine Inch Nails, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Beck, etc) and mastered by Maor Applebaum (Faith No More).
The first single of this release, “You and I & I” was unveiled on November 1st, 2019. The song was plugged on 74 Spotify playlists in the first month following its release, including editorial playlist “French Noise,” FM radios, Sirius XM, and internet radios in USA, UK, Germany, France, Norway, New Zealand and Canada. The song reached #1 on USA Indie Radios charts on February 1st 2020. On Feb. 14th, 2019, Yard of Blondes released their 2nd single “Lowland,” and achieved even more. It reached #6 on USA Indie Radios charts in May 2020 and is currently being played on 200+ radio stations all over the world, acceding new territories through major radio stations airplay in Japan. Soon after, at the beginning of the pandemic, they got signed to Die Laughing Records and Golden Robot.
On July 3rd, Yard Of Blondes released an unexpected EP: “Close to Home,” ; a live session recorded during the quarantine. Vincent, Fanny, Forrest and Burak all recorded and filmed themselves from their homes in Los Angeles.
“Do you need more,” is the 3rd single to be released from their debut album and will be release October 16, 2020.
