Entrancing Alt-pop from French-born, London-based band Cross-Channel Music - Stream it here

As someone who is always on the lookout for new indie music, I was thrilled to see that a longtime favourite of mine, Cross Channel Music, had a new single. The single is titled “Bygone Days” and it has everything that originally got me hooked on the band’s music in the first place: rhythmic guitars, a thumping beat, and front man Pierre Lassegues’ personal lyrics and warm succinct vocals.

The single opens with pounding rhythmic guitar and drums which lead into the first verse. Pierre’s singing has a conversational quality while maintaining a strong sense of melody. His tone is very warm and inviting. His vocals combined with the rest of the track make for a very inviting and upbeat listening experience. The chorus hits with a catchy hook that has been stuck in my head for days. The song is incredibly addicting which is a true testament to how well-crafted it is. It is also wonderfully short, which is a huge selling point for me. The message is relayed with energy and fun and then it ends. Some songs drone on and on for no real reason, as I think those who are recording them forget that if the listener wanted to hear the chorus a hundred times, they could just start the song over. “Bygone Days” begins with a spark and never has the chance to lose it.

If you are new to Cross Channel Music’s music or a veteran listener, I highly recommend you go and listen to this new single. Once you are hooked on it, you can branch out to the music they have already released and that should be enough to hold you over until the full-length album comes out.
