FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM celebrate 40 years with live UK shows including some amazing support acts

September 27, 2025

As the veil thins this autumn, the legendary Fields of the Nephilim prepare to rise once more—summoning their spectral soundscapes for a five-date run that marks 40 years of gothic grandeur, sonic mysticism, and uncompromising vision. From the shadowy clubs of early ’80s London to the sacred halls of Whitby’s Tomorrow’s Ghost Festival, Carl McCoy and company are set to commemorate a legacy that has shaped the very soil of alternative music.

The tour kicks off next month, culminating in a Samhain ritual at London’s O2 Forum on November 1st. But it’s the Halloween headline slot at the sold-out Tomorrow’s Ghost Festival in Whitby that promises to be the most spiritually charged—an apt setting for a band whose aesthetic has always danced with the arcane.

“It’s been 40 years since we released ‘Burning The Fields’ in 1985,” McCoy reflects, invoking the band’s DIY origins. “We had no record deal, no distribution… just enough dosh to record four songs in a small studio in Acton.” That EP, pressed in a mere 500 copies and hand-assembled by the band themselves, has become a relic of gothic rock history. But McCoy is clear: “We are not planning on performing or releasing an anniversary version of this; I think we will lay this one to rest. Those fields have been burnt.”

Instead, these shows are a living monument—not to nostalgia, but to endurance. “The shows this autumn are more about commemorating my four decades of Fields Of The Nephilim. A perfect reason to celebrate this season in 2025.”

Joining the Nephilim on this journey are fellow torchbearers of the alternative underground: Balaam and the Angel, Claytown Troupe, and the gothic Americana stylings of Heathen Apostles. Each act brings its own brand of dark romanticism, ensuring the evenings will be rich with texture, rebellion, and ritual.

In an era of fleeting trends and algorithmic playlists, Fields of the Nephilim remain a testament to the power of myth, mood, and meaning. These concerts will be more like ceremonies. For longtime fans and curious initiates alike, this is a rare chance to witness a band that have topped the bill in their genre for the last 4 decades.
