“A festival for all the senses and one that successfully manages to be cool and cosy at the same time.” The Guardian, May 2014.
Finland’s national Flow Festival is pleased to add another impressive artist to its line-up, in the form of singer-songwriter Jenny Wilson. Flow also announces the festival’s daily programme, with all ticket types now on sale.
Swedish electropop artist Jenny Wilson will perform in Helsinki on Friday August 8th. Her fourth album ‘Demand The Impossible’ was released last autumn and received praise from both fans and critics alike. Now Wilson is the recent winner of three Swedish Grammis awards, having taken home the accolades for ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Music Production’ and ‘Best Video’ together with Daniel Wirtberg for the video ‘Autobiography’.
Wilson began her solo career in 2005 and is known for hits such as ‘Summer Time – The Roughest Time’ and‘Let My Shoes Lead Me Forward’. Before going solo, she was the vocalist of the band First Floor Power and featured on The Knife's hit ‘You Take My Breath Away.’
Meanwhile, following the success of Red Bull Music Academy’s programme at the Finnish event last year,Flow is also delighted to announce the music line-up for this year’s Red Bull Music Academy Backyard Stage, which will once again present exciting music and sessions at Flow.
The special stage will play host to the likes of hip-hop icon Peanut Butter Wolf, in-demand beatsmith Evian Christ, Machinedrum's psychedelic, experimental electro, along with dub and reggae from Germany's Mark Ernestus of Basic Channel.
Other artists confirmed for this year’s line-up include Outkast, The National, Janelle Monáe, Die Antwoord, Bill Callahan, Paul Kalkbrenner, The Horrors, Jamie xx, Kavinsky, Darkside, Mac DeMarco, Kakkmaddafakka and Pusha T, with more additions expected soon.
The eleventh Flow Festival will be held 8–10th August in the historic Suvilahti, Helsinki: one of the capital’s most monumental architectural sites. Striking an alluring setting for a few days of blissed-out festival escapism, the event embraces the city’s penchant for urban spaces and modern art, setting it aside as one of the most exciting and innovative festivals of the summer.
Beyond the music, Flow offers a warm embrace of the arts, offering art displays from Scandinavia and abroad as well as showcasing art house film, cinema, lectures and an exceptional array of world spanning cuisine.
