Blending elements of funk, ska, and psychedelic-rock, new Conch Town Record signing AstroYeti return with their second single ‘You Do VooDoo Too (Dude?)’.
Taken from their upcoming debut album Gnarly Gumlie’s Voodoo Van, AstroYeti’s second single, You Do Voodoo Too, takes psychedelic rock and blends it with bayou funk in this edgy thumper, ripe for the Halloween season.
Songwriter Turner Harrison explains:
“We set out to capture the feeling of voodoo, and modern mysticism in sound. I asked myself ‘what is the power of voodoo?’ The answer is that it’s a pseudo-science, unprovable, but too dangerous to be wholeheartedly disregarded. People are afraid of it, so they join in; for fear of what might happen if they don’t. It’s something sinful, to be sure, but if we don’t sin, then Jesus died for nothing!”
The Key West trio once again showcase their strikingly complete sound and impeccable musical abilities blending tight rhythms with layers of fuzzy and bright guitar lines, funky bass and splashes of organ to create a track full of all the fun, energy and flair the band have become known for. Topped with effortlessly charismatic, 70s tinted vocal delivery akin to the likes of Free the band perfectly balances modern funk and soul with classic rock to create a unique musical experience.
Describing themselves as “a secret society of Space-Caper solving time crime fighters”, AstroYeti’s unique blend of trippy island rock tinged spacefunk is perfectly matched with their out of this world image - a band of colorful miscreant universal explorers making joyous music with bags of energy and musical depth.
An exciting new project from a group of talented and well experienced musicians, the Key West based outfit have already established themselves with radio play across the UK and US and features across tastemaker press including Psychedelic Baby Magazine and Fab UK second release ‘You Do Voodoo Too (Dude?)’ is released September 29th.
