Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. is delighted to unveil his latest single: “Just A Phase”.
Set to feature on new album ‘Young Adult’ (out 19th January 2018 on Xtra Mile Recordings), the track is available as a free download with all pre-orders of the new album from today. Pre-order here
In recording ‘Young Adult’, Get Cape assembled a full live band to give his latest record a fresh, authentic and organic sound. You can see that very band performing the new single ‘Just A Phase’ in the accompanying video below
With fizzing alt-rock riffs and woozy undulating synthesisers, ’Just A Phase’ is joyous and carefree in nature. But as ever with Get Cape’s music there is more to be found when you scratch the surface, with the track opening-up an intriguing dialogue about our triangular relationship with politics and social media.
Speaking about the track, Sam Duckworth AKA Get Cape says:
“We’re constantly told of all the things that are going wrong, how idiots are running the world into the ground. How division and hopelessness are everywhere. We watch others argue and laugh at our own demise. Its about getting ready to get tough because the real fight is an offline one. Rebuild and repair, means getting off twitter and back to the physical realm.”
“Just A Phase” was produced by Rees Broomfield and Jay Malhotra at Duckworth’s studio in Southend. The track emerges as the third track from the forthcoming Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. album ‘Young Adult’, following previous singles: “Adults” and “Always”.
Next January, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. will also be returning to the live stage for an intimate one-off gig at The Village Underground, London on 18th January 2018. Buy tickets here.
Speaking about the current line up and the Village Underground show, Get Cape says:
“The “Just A Phase” video shows the current line up of the live band. I’m very lucky to have some of the best musicians I’ve ever played with, as well as some of my best mates. Callum and Phil (Drums and Bass) play in Pocket Dragon, Jay and Linda are long term collaborators and Lydia Kitto is an incredible new artist. The chemistry is really good and it’s a lot of fun. For the Village Underground date we’re adding the “Bohemian Soul Orchestra” too, which is horns, strings, percussion and flute. Very excited to be playing with a band again.”
