“I AM LONO’s take on electronic guitar pop is to take it, destroy it and reinvent it in a mere 30 minutes...like the lovechild of John Carpenter’s Halloween and a classic Studio 57 dance floor filler! LONO are one of the best new live bands coming out of Nottingham and expect to hear plenty from this duo over the next year.” - Artrocker
I Am Lono are the duo Matthew Cooper and David Startin from Nottingham, who release their new AA single ‘Too Bright’ / ‘Simone’ on 17th March.
They are offering a free download of ‘Too Bright’ via their Facebook page until the 1st March.
The single ‘Too Bright’ features Matthew’s angst-ridden vocals over a stark keyboard and deep, minimal beats. In the band’s own words Too Bright “is about the deluded expectations and constant diversions of a young man's thoughts, who has realised that his expectation of how things would turn out is not necessarily the way things will be”.
Influenced by John Carpenter, The Doors, David Bowie, Suicide, Kraftwerk, Bukowski, Hunter S Thompson and David Lynch, I Am Lono have been together for just over a year. They make epic, dark, electronic pop music, which has already won them fans over at BBC 6 Music, including Steve Lamacq, and Dean Jackson over at BBC Introducing show The Beat.
During the last twelve months I Am Lono have opened Dot to Dot Festival and have also supported the likes of The Savages and Palma Violets.
