LOVE IS LOVE is thrilling spiky punk-pop awash with guitars, hooks and melodies - business as usual then? A highly autobiographical lyric from singer Sean Dickson: “I wrote it really quickly-it`s about how my 18 year old self would react to knowing that I had grown up gradually realising I was a gay man. As a song subject, it`s actually a pretty mind-blowing concept!”
NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET hits the ground running like a hi-nrg mind-melting psychedelic-punk rock soundtrack. Written by the band and celebrating their working in tandem with Music Declares Emergency, the climate emergency pressure group which is also supported by the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Billie Eilish and Foals. It packs a huge punch into its 2 minutes and 47 seconds. This track features the additional vocal stylings of Sean, Jim, Sushil and Ross`s grown up children. “As the song developed, we wanted to emphasise that the immediate future of our planet is far from secure-and that`s why we got our next generation involved,” stated Bass player Sushil K. Dade. “No Music…” also features the inimitable voice of a bona fide legend - the B52's Fred Schneider! Fred and the band have long been mutual admirers of each other`s work. Singer Sean explained “The B-52s were a huge influence not only on the Soups music, but also the strong visual impact of the band pretty much defined what we were aspiring to back in the day. We met Fred on tour years ago, hit it off, and have remained friends ever since.”
The Soup Dragons, who famously had a worldwide top 5 hit with the track “I’m Free” in 1990 are preparing to play their first live shows in 30 years with the original line-up.
