Ahead of OUTER TOWN which takes place on 13 April at multiple venues around Bristol, we wanted to chat to bands and artists performing at the festival so YOU can plan your day. Next up is an immensely talented bunch of musicians who call themselves CHERRY CHAIN….
Please describe your act/band in one sentence
Woozy post-punky dreampop.
Please tell us a fascinating fact about you or the band that not many people would know
We were temporarily called Eyes Were Black.
Who would you cite as a major influence on you/your band?
Wolf Alice is in the mix, I guess Radiohead. Maybe some Mitski and similar artists.
When did your relationship with Outer Town 24’ start? (hint: not as an act but maybe through media or seeing someone else there or getting caught up in something)
Our synth player Charlie has known the organizer of Outer Town for a while, and is the fab artist responsible for the posters and marketing illustration.
Have you played Outer Town Festival before?
We haven’t! We’re super excited to play alongside such a fun lineup, and to get to show off a few new tracks.
What was your reaction when you knew you would be playing there this year?
:-)
From the bands announced so far, who are you looking forward to seeing and who would you hope may yet make it onto the bill?
Bled are alway a hoot. Other must sees are Heavy Lungs, Knives, and Milo’s Planes for our guitarist Tom. If we could add an artist, Katie would love a bit of Biig Piig.
Bristol is an amazing place, what do you love about it?
The multitude of venues, the rehearsal spaces, it’s open-ness. It’s a big microcosm in a small city.
Dream festival Lineup (can be dead or alive)
I think across the band it would range from some medieval folk musician to a dirty noise band. The Last Dinner Party, Radiohead, Wolf Alice, The Doors, and Tom Waits.
Finally, why should a festival punter make an effort to see you at Outer Town Festival this year?
It’ll be the first chance to hear material off our upcoming record.
