Basslines, banter, and rebuilt dub—Jah Wobble returns to the road with a fresh run of UK dates this autumn.
If you’ve ever felt the seismic rumble of Jah Wobble’s bass in your chest, you’ll know it’s not just music—it’s ritual. This autumn, the legendary bassist, composer, and dub provocateur hits the UK once again with his band The Invaders of the Heart, bringing a mix of sonic mischief, deep groove, and cultural storytelling to stages across the country.
Among the highlights: a special Metal Box Rebuilt In Dub show in Birmingham, reworking Public Image Ltd’s seminal second album with added cuts from First Issue. Joining Wobble onstage will be Jon Klein, formerly of Siouxsie & The Banshees, for a night that promises to stretch, smother, and snap PiL’s industrial legacy into something gloriously off-centre.
Several dates will also feature pre-show audience Q&As—an opportunity to hear Wobble riff on everything from bass frequencies to Eastern philosophy, punk history to South London bus routes. Expect charm, cheek, and the kind of stories only a true dub geezer can tell.
Born John Wardle and renamed by Sid Vicious in a haze of punk chaos, Jah Wobble co-founded PiL in 1978 alongside John Lydon and Keith Levene, laying down the low-end blueprint for post-punk’s future. Since then, he’s carved out a singular career—collaborating with Brian Eno, Björk, Holger Czukay, and The Edge, while fusing dub, funk, jazz, and global rhythms into a sound that defies borders.
Beyond the music, Wobble is a prolific author and spiritual thinker. His memoir, Dark Luminosity: Memoirs of a Geezer, was reissued last year to critical acclaim, and his recent solo album The Bus Routes of South London was—naturally—written and recorded on buses.
What to expect on tour? A maelstrom of bass, irreverent theatre, and a masterclass in sonic elasticity. As The Punk Site put it: “Wobble and his merry band have earned the right to do whatever the hell they want.”
