Released on Monday 4th May, ‘Paper Rose’ is the latest single from Kate In The Kettle – the acclaimed project from Scottish musician and composer Kate Young. A set of UK dates accompanies the release throughout May 2015.
Kate is known for her work with Carthy, Hardy, Farrell and Youngand Moulettes. In her own project, Kate in the Kettle, she is often joined by a varying line-up of musicians to create "challengingly exotic” (MOJO) soundscapes: drawing musical inspiration from song and fiddle-playing traditions around the world.
Kate explores the combination of voice with her fiddle-playing whilst working all this into her own compositions. This Spring, Kate will be joined by Francesca Ter-Berg on cello (of Sam Lee and Friends) who adds to the sound her accomplished Klezmer playing-style.
October 2014 saw the release of Kate in the Kettle’s debut album Swimmings of the Head, followed by a successful thirteen-date tour across the UK. The album has received excellent reviews, while the band are looking forward to an exciting new year.
