Isle Of Wight power pop sensation Lauran Hibberd releases official video for pulsating new single 'Mary' (watch here), following the announcement of second LP ‘Girlfriend Material’ (pre-order here), set for release March 22nd 2024 via Virgin Music.
Speaking of the video's origins, Hibberd explained: "Filmed on a day off from tour, in LA - with some extremely cool people, we managed to recreate my double date. Of course, my double date was a more washed out, Wetherspoons coded version - but you get the drift. I was so excited to film this video in the States, and to mainly be outside in a skirt in October. This is my favourite video I have ever made, it reminds me of videos I grew up on and captures a nostalgia which I constantly crave when making music. Drenched in 90’s and early noughties references, the video is an exact play by play of the day I met ‘Mary’ - aka the best day ever. Directed by the AMAZING Richelle Chen.”
Arriving as the follow-up to early LP reveals ‘I Suck At Grieving’ and ‘Honda Civic’, ‘Mary’ captures the Isle Of Wight native’s pop-punk roots to perfection, with its unbridled positivity shining through as she navigates her way through the major life-changing events explored within her upcoming record.
With debut LP ‘Garageband Superstar’ drawing monumental acclaim throughout the press landscape, including key broadsheets (The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, Evening Standard) and indie press titans on both side of the Atlantic (UNCUT, NME, Rolling Stone, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, Billboard, Consequence of Sound, NYLON, Clash, Gigwise, Time Out, Kerrang, Rock Sound, Upset), Hibberd is certainly more than ready to kick off the next phase in her development; having already become a mainstay on the BBC Radio 1 (Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley) airwaves over the last few years.
Fresh from rapturously received UK, US and Australian tour support runs alongside cult US alt-rockers All Time Low, the indie specialist is set to head back out on the road in January for several dates alongside Hobo Johnson, before embarking on her own UK headline tour in the spring.
Lauran Hibberd’s ‘Mary’ (single) is out now via Virgin Music and available on all digital platforms,
