Solo singer-songwriter and producer Maximilian, hailing from Jersey and currently based in Brighton, returns with the enchanting new single ‘Red Wine’, taken from the upcoming debut album and vinyl release Surrender.
Having performed and written with ELLiS•D as the lead guitarist since 2021, Maximilian is no stranger to success having supported Razorlight at the Brighton Dome and Hammersmith Apollo, gained multiple plays on BBC Radio 6 Music, toured across the UK and Europe, gained coverage across tastemaker press (It’s Psychedelic Baby Mag, JoyZine) and signed to rocky road touring agency.
Following the success of his debut solo releases 'For Now' and the intricate 'Kill Time', Maximilian continues to showcase his abilities as an emotive songwriter, blending alt-rock, folk and indie to great effect. Compared to the likes of Jeff Buckley, Radiohead as well as the likes Neil Young and Elliott Smith, Maximilian’s sonic approach showcases a 90s influenced accessibility and a tender, emotive depth.
The new single ‘Red Wine’ is a prime example of this stylistic approach - a gradual builder that grows from its tender stripped back opening to a sprawling soundscape of overdriven guitar sounds, messy ambience and driving drums.
Seaking about the new single Maximilian explains:
“I wrote this song very quickly, about 4 years ago. It’s about a fleeting relationship that sparks, crashes and burns. The long-lasting return of first love. Long awaited, short lived. Self destructive but beautiful. I have played this song In every set since 2020. Whilst building a fanbase in Brighton over the years, people have come to sing along to this one, knowing the words, without it being released, which I'm pretty proud and happy about.
It was recorded and mixed in my various bedrooms over the last three years. Done in a DIY fashion, but aiming for a high quality professional outcome.”
Touring with the new solo project across Brighton and London, Maximilian has packed out a number of renowned venues including The Green Door Store, The Prince Albert, and The Ivy House and Next Door Records in London, and sold out his debut single launch at The Folklore Rooms. With early support coming from Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing for his new material, Maximilian is building a reputation as one to watch.
