Kaysien has a lot of legendary stories to tell (like having a curry with Elton John), which may be why he decided to make music. The British Artist/Multi-Instrumentalist/Producer & Engineer uses his songs to take us on a musical saga and brings us to a new sonic territory with his latest release 'Elements'.
The EP is composed of 4 tracks about self-identity titled ‘Air’ ‘Earth’ ‘Water’ & ‘Fire’. They have been entirely produced out of his studio in West London. The UK Artist crosses multiple genres creating a sound uniquely his own consisting of 2 solo piano tracks, and a groove hard to pin down. The lead single (and last track on the EP) ‘Fire’ mashes up Caribbean rhythms with a weighty piano riff, a side order of rootsy groove and a chant-like vocal based on a raw emotive expression. His signature sound made him gather support up and down the country from local, community, college, FM radio stations and publications. His next phase is to take his band, Kaysien &The BCB, on tour across the UK.
Kaysien explains about the EP: "Self-Identity is at the core of these tracks. Learning more (through introspection) about my Ancestral roots in the Caribbean, Africa, South East Asia, Europe & Britain had settled a discussion with myself of where I fit in in terms of cultural and musical expression...which is everywhere and nowhere and so somewhere in-between. What this lends to me is a unique perspective and a deeper understanding of the communicative powers of music. Each of the four tracks expresses an Element of identity, whether that’s through a particular rhythm, the tone of an instrument or the arrangement choices. It is also a way to express artistic integrity"
