French/English DEAD CHIC debuted in 2022 with their first single ‘Too Far Gone’ which immediately caught the imagination of the french music media being described by Rolling Stone France as “…a mixture of heavy rock and soul, cinematic and brilliantly orchestrated”.
In early 2023, they released ‘The Venus Ballroom’ and in March they are touring through the UK with Nouvelle Vague and they have released ‘The Venus Ballroom Live’ - a powerful evolution from the original EP giving a demonstration of the bands power and vulnerability in their live performance.

The band originally started as a coming together of Andy Balcon of Heymoonshaker and Damien Felix of Catfish who also founded and produced Bigger. Between them they have forged a sound driven by the gruff, captivating and powerful vocal of Balcon whilst underpinned by Felix’s production creating an emotive sound that conjures images brilliantly described as… a dark ceremony at the foothills of a fuzzy Morricone landscape.
Dead Chic are a four-piece ensemble composed of Andy Balcon (Heymoonshaker), Damien Felix (Catfish/Bigger) Mathis Akengin (Emea) and Remi Ferbus (Kimberose/Mika).
It was during tours with Balcon and Felix’s respective groups that they met a few years ago, crossing paths regularly on the road and meeting backstage to discuss music, art and a hypothetical collaboration.
A few years pass without them meeting again. In the Autumn of 2020, their paths crossed with a stepping stone collaboration to be featured in Rolling Stone (Fr). The idea of working together then becomes serious and after a few exchanges the single ‘Too Far Gone’ arrives. DEAD CHIC was born! They were then joined by Ferbus on drums and Akengin on keyboards.
In April 2022 they recorded their first studio EP ‘The Venus Ballroom’ at the mythical Black Box Studio, under the guidance of Peter Deimel (Anna Calvi, The Kills, Last Shadow Puppets). Four days of intense takes, recorded on tape, to pay tribute to the group's live power.
Mixed by Flavien Van Landuyt, ‘The Venus Ballroom’ - their first studio EP - delivers six tracks charged with fervour and emotion, a real panorama with rich songwriting and production that is both rough and refined.
