Glasgow’s own singer-songwriter, Murdo Mitchell, makes a triumphant return with his newest single, ‘One Glass’ which was release on 23rd February 2024. This latest release provides a sneak peek into his forthcoming EP, scheduled for release later in the year.
Produced in a studio nestled within the serene fields of Devon alongside producer Chris Bond, ‘One Glass’ captures Murdo’s emotions while navigating the bustling London lifestyle. Guided by his rich and resonant voice, reminiscent of artists like Paolo Nutini or Ben Howard, the song showcases Murdo’s distinctive fusion of indie-folk, intertwining acoustic guitar with finely crafted string arrangements.
Of the single, Murdo said “Living in London can be fast paced and you can get caught up in feeling you’re doing a lot while doing nothing. You’re constantly out meeting people for drinks etc and you spend a lot of time communicating with others in bars and social situations, which is partly the beauty of London and why I love it so much. But it’s a song for myself. And it’s dedicated to all those who I meet at the bar & chat to after I play the gigs. Sometimes the higher you’re getting the lower you’re going, but I’ll meet you there nonetheless.”
This release heralds the start of an exciting year for Murdo, featuring a lineup of headline shows on the horizon and the much-anticipated release of his EP later this year. With a primary focus on live performance, the EP comprises a mix of both old and new songs that Murdo has brought to life on stage. Collaborating with producer Chris Bond, they successfully captured the raw grittiness and intensity of his live shows, seamlessly translating it into the studio recording.
‘One Glass’ is available now across all streaming platforms. To celebrate the release Murdo will kick off a string of headline shows starting in Leeds on 25th March. (Tickets and dates below).
