LIVE REVIEW: A Fitting Farewell - Kris Barras signs off in style at The Foundry, Torquay

October 17, 2026

Some gigs are memorable because of the music. Others linger because of the occasion. For those gathered at The Foundry in Torquay, Kris Barras's final live performance delivered both.

From the moment the lights dimmed, there was a palpable sense that this was more than just another date on a tour schedule. Fans packed into the venue knowing they were about to witness the closing chapter of a remarkable period in Barras's career. The anticipation was tangible, and as the band took to the stage, it quickly became clear that the evening would live long in the memory.

Barras has built a reputation on blending blues-infused guitar brilliance with hard-hitting modern rock, and throughout the night he demonstrated exactly why he has become one of the UK's most respected rock performers. His guitar work was nothing short of exceptional, weaving moments of finesse and ferocity into every song. Whether delivering soaring solos or bone-rattling riffs, Barras played with the confidence and conviction of an artist determined to leave everything on the stage.

Vocally, he was equally impressive. His unmistakable voice carried both power and emotion, connecting instantly with an audience who sang, cheered and celebrated every moment. There was a raw honesty to the performance that elevated it beyond a standard rock show. Every note felt significant, every song delivered with the knowledge that this particular journey was reaching its conclusion.

Supporting proceedings were American alternative rock favourites 10 Years, who provided a perfect counterpoint to the night's headliner. Their set combined atmospheric textures, crushing riffs and an abundance of energy, immediately winning over the Torquay crowd. Powerful choruses echoed around the venue as they delivered a performance packed with intensity and precision, reminding everyone why they continue to command such a loyal following.

Together, the two acts created a compelling double bill. Barras brought the blues-soaked swagger and guitar-led firepower, while 10 Years delivered a darker, alternative edge. The combination ensured there was never a dip in energy throughout the evening, with the audience fully invested from start to finish.

The Foundry itself proved the ideal setting. Intimate enough to create a genuine connection between performers and audience, yet loud enough to let the music hit with full force, it provided the perfect backdrop for a night fuelled by passion, volume and shared appreciation. As the crowd packed tightly together, singing back lyrics and applauding every solo, it served as another reminder of the unique magic that only live music can create.

As the final notes rang out and Barras took his last bow, the sense of occasion became impossible to ignore. There was celebration, admiration and perhaps a touch of sadness among those present. While the future may hold new opportunities and fresh challenges, this felt like the end of an important chapter for both the artist and the fans who have followed his journey.

If there was ever a way to sign off, this was it.

A night of exceptional musicianship, thunderous rock and genuine emotion, crowned by a performance worthy of the occasion. Torquay was treated to something special, and those fortunate enough to be there witnessed a farewell that was every bit as powerful as the legacy Kris Barras leaves behind.
