Londoners Weird Milk share their anthemic-fuelled ‘We Were Strangers’ EP, out today (November 17th).
Centred around exhilarating lead single ‘Vienna’, harmonious follow-up ‘Make It Alone (Lonely Boy)’, and its gripping focus title-track, ‘We Were Strangers’ cements the group’s thrilling progression, with acclaim arriving from key indie press champions such as DIY, Dork, Gigwise and The Independent, in addition to BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Radio X airtime courtesy of Steve Lamacq, Gemma Bradley, Chris Hawkins and John Kennedy.
With a hectic late summer of festivals under their belts (Latitude, Dot To Dot, Wilderness, Standon Calling) and their debut UK headline tour kicking off this month, including a show at London’s prestigious Omeara venue, Weird Milk are primed to impress on the live circuit once more, having already ticked off a slew of high-profile supports alongside the likes of APRE, Alfie Templeman, Frank Carter and Pip Blom in recent times.
Speaking ahead of their EP release, the band revealed:“The songs are self-reflective. The music is optimistic but is counter-acted with a yearning for human connection that strings the songs together. This could be in response to our presently-shared struggles but there is also a broad and ageless romance (or lack of) that we sing about. We found ourselves soothing our frustrations throughout the writing and recording process, since we were unable to continue to pursue our dreams and our goals and this was our only outlet.
Slowly but surely we are achieving the sound we want from our music. Having so much to listen to, and so easily, means your sound inspirations can be diverse. The trick is to fit it altogether”.
Weird Milk’s ‘We Were Strangers’ EP is out now and available on all digital platforms.
Weird Milk is Alex Griffiths (guitar, vocals), Charlie Glover Wright (drums, vocals), Joe ‘Blue’ Moyle (keys), Alex Guess (bass)
