Sarah Howells and Richard Llewellyn are Paper Aeroplanes, they hail from West Wales and their musical output is often likened to that of Nerina Pallot and Turin Brakes. Their influences range from Laura Veirs to the sublime tones of Jeff Buckley, Pete Yorn to Sarah Mclachlan and Bjork to The National with a strong mix of Suzanne Vega, Nina Simone, The Cardigans, Leonard Cohen and Jeffery Lewis thrown in for good measure.
They don't like to be pigeon holed but if pushed, claim their sound is 'Emo Folk'.
Here's what some of the big hitters say about them....
"With songs this good, Paper Aeroplanes deserve a far wider audience." Guardian
"mini-album of impressively fine melodies, gentle melancholia and the occasional burst of jaunty, breezy pop" Robin Denselow, BBC Music
"a delicate mix of upbeat nostalgia and heart wrenching honesty." For Folks Sake
"Every so often something comes along that challenges you to do it justice on paper....breathtaking.." God is in the TV
They are set to play the Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre on November 19th supported by Stu Larsen, you can pre-order tickets HERE or via the box office at the venue by calling in or by telephoning 01392 667080
