Misgivings began as an idea in 2013, after a drunken chat at a squat show In Hamburg. Based in Portsmouth, UK, they combine a love of travelling, touring, drinking beers and bands such as Samiam, Jawbreaker, Husker Du, Strung Out, Alkaline Trio & Title Fight. Misgivings are stamping their own style on the current Punk scene.
Original drummer, Peter Hardy (who appears on both the demo and Delete History) was replaced shortly before their first UK tour by close friend Andrew Summerly, who, for fans of post rock, played in the Strange Death of Liberal England supporting the Manic Street Preachers and playing festivals such as Primavera. Needless to say going from playing arenas to pub floors was a culture shock. The band is completed by FIFA career pro William Pearce on guitar and vocals, New Zealander Ollie Richardson on guitar/vocals and Joe Anderson on bass.
Since their formation, the band have played a handful of short tours in the UK and Europe at various toilet venues, pub floors and crusty squats travelling town to town, hungover, with the occasional car crash on the autobahn thrown in for good measure.
Delete History was recorded D.I.Y style with a portable mixing desk, speakers and any available space by close friend Jon Moon. You could regard the EP as more of a mini album as the 6 tracks clock in at just over 20 minutes. The lyrical content of the record is a scathing review of today's mundane society, being forced into adulthood, complex relationships and struggling with day to day social situations. All laced with an over analysing irony.
The 6 track, debut EP is available on 03/11/14 through all usual online retailers.
