Is it Monday already? by the time I think about it, Friday will be here and I can look forward to another couple of days of no work and much play!
I don’t think I have any live shows pencilled in this week which is a good thing as I have been very busy covering the IDLES show in Cardiff last week, Cory Wong the week before in Bristol and most recently, the awesome Alabama 3 in Exeter, it’ll be nice to have a few days off to catch up on loose ends!
This playlist is full of great new tracks from 9 bands and artists but I only have 1 featured artist to tell you about so please take some time to learn more about her and give her a follow on the socials if you like what you hear.
See you on the other side.
Marina Avetisian
Marina Avetisian is a London based artist who counts Jazz, Soul, French songs, Emily King, Lianne La Havas and Alice Coltrain amongst her influences.
Her latest offering ‘Freefall’ is about surrendering to the unknown, new experience and trusting the process.
As well as producing mainstream music, Marina is also writing and producing music for meditation purposes which I am sure is as spellbindingly beautiful as her regular sound.
Having received support from BBC Introducing London and a slot at the much-lauded ‘How the Light Gets In Festival’, she draws upon the support of her wonderful band and team to create her sound, here they are;
Guitar - Jorma Gasperi
Bass- Miguan Ascanio Green
Violin - Sloane Monroe
Drums - Miichel Castellanos
Production - Miguan Ascanio Green
Mastering - Ret Svetlov/Base
Mosquito Artwork - Anna Patulska
Asked to provide more information about the track, Marina said, “This song was initially recorded as an acoustic song with just a guitar and voice. Then it had its own journey and started to grow and evolve. We added guitars, bass, drums, violin by different amazing artists from around the world (Italy, Argentina, Cuba, UK). It is a love song, about the that 'butterfly in the stomach' feeling when we fall in love, or turning a new page in life or starting anything new and unknown, it is about freedom inside to surrender to this unknown, trusting ourselves and being able to let go of fears and float as in freefall.”
