Hello one and all….. It’s 9th May and I am pleased to announce that I have found time to pull together a new playlist FULL of amazing tracks form some of the world’s finest unsigned bands and artists.
I went to see Nick Mason (drummer of Pink Floyd) perform last night in Plymouth alongside some very talented musicians, they were touring the ‘Saucerful of Secrets’ which s basically the early Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd sons (See Emily Play, Bike etc…) it was a great show and everyone had a great time. This led me on to thinking that Pink Floyd is a band that 99% of the population have either heard of or own a record/CD by them but WHERE did they start? Had Spotify been around in the late 60’s, I would like to think that they would have appeared on a few playlists before gaining any sort of momentum, a. bit like the acts that I help to promote on our ‘On the Radar’ playlists, you’ve got to start somewhere! With this in mind, please do spare a few minutes to have a read about our featured acts below, you never know, you might just unearth your next favourite!
See you on the other side!
Manuel Garay
Munich based DJ and Producer Manuel Garay teams up with London based rapper/ songwriter REVEAL on an uptempo progressive rap song with compelling storytelling.
Born and based in Munich, Manuel Garay is a progressive music producer that has had a steady presence, touring internationally with his previous act 'Cocolores'.
The track is a driving force with flowing rap, great beats and a catchy melody which will have you back for round 2 straight away!
Manuel’s aim is to write and produce songs with singers that maintain a unique touch in their very own way. Many exciting projects are in the pipeline for this upcoming producer and DJ as a true tastemaker, definitely one to keep an eye on.

Bad Bloom
In 2019, Bad Bloom was created in Queens, New York and is formed of husband/wife duo Kate Rogers and Jay Trovato.
The band recorded a three-track EP, 'Candle' inspired by shoegaze and dreampop legends Ride, DIIV and My Bloody Valentine with Post-Punk/Indie influencers such as The Cure, Rainer Maria, & Jenny Lewis.
In 2021, they released a five-track EP ‘Leave’, which received strong press coverage and momentum.
The band were set for success pre-pandemic, playing NYC’s Mercury Lounge while preparing for a (canceled) 2020 tour, and to date, their music has been remarked by The Menzingers, Pure Noise Records, and multiple shoegaze/dreampop blogs.
May 2022 sees them continuing to make strides with the release of their newest single, ‘Remnant.’ This emotional and dreamy tune brings a fresh spirit to the shoegaze/post punk/dreampop genre.
Infusing driving guitars and whimsical vocal melodies with layers of fuzz, ‘Remnant’ immerses the listener into a blurred memory of being young and careless. “Getting older, you think about the time in life when things were so light and fun, living without fear of the future,” shares singer/bassist Kate Rogers. “This song captures the emotion that comes with growing up, learning about life, and taking chances.”
Being a fan of the shoegaze era, especially bands such as Ride, Chapterhouse and My Bloody Valentine, this has transported me back to simpler times where music seemed simpler, more direct and not flustered by the onset of social media and the need to be something that you’re not, this is pure, honest, unfiltered music that you need in your headspace….
‘Remnant’ was recorded in early 2022 in Rochester, NY and mixed and mastered at Wicked Squid studio.

SuziToy
SuziToy started in London, early 2018.
A three piece punk rock trio, with psychedelic and progressive elements. They bring uncomfortable and controversial subjects to the forefront. With censorship at an all-time high, SuziToy push the boundary between political correctness and artistic endeavour.
The founding members, Marlon (guitar/vox), and Ko (bass/vox), having honed their skills in punk band 'We Buy Gold', make up the core of the writing process, whilst Bish, formerly of 'Flesh for Lulu', (drums) brings his own unique panache. Unpredictably and excitement are key factors in their compositions, with influences drawn from EDM to Punk Rock, film score music to American West coast rap, though routed firmly in punk ethics.
'Freaky lick' is Suzitoy’s second single release. The song was first conceived from a dream after hearing the news of Taiwanese piracy in 2016. Inspired by modern day slavery and human trafficking, the song highlights the plight of those who flee their homes in search of a greener pasture and a better life.
I hear elements of early Chili Peppers seeping into this track, not sure if they are fans of their work but regardless, ‘Freaky Lick’ kicks ass - get it listened to!
