Another day, another dollar…..or should that be another day, another playlist? They really are like buses at the moment, I go for a couple of weeks without much new content and then…..BOOM! along come 9 tracks that are too good not to showcase!

Chagstock has a great lineup this year including headliners ASH, Boardmasters in August will no doubt dazzle with the pick of the crop tastemakers that make up a killer lineup and Beautiful Days which follows Boardnmasters has some incredible acts including one of my all time faves Ned’s Atomic Dustbin whom I fell for in 1990 and have been a firm follower ever since, I wonder if any of my old shirts will still fit me?!
So, enjoy the playlist, we have worked hard to curate bands and artists whom I’m sure you will love as much as we do and if you can spare a couple of minutes, please scroll down and read the bios of the featured acts included on the playlist, if you like what you see and hear, get involved, give them a like, they’ll thank you for it!
Tremayne
Tremayne is a Toronto grown alternative hip-hop artist, known for his prolific performances and universally respected for his visceral songwriting. Tremayne began his career under the moniker T-Mayne, a nod to his birth name (Before T-PAIN was a thing). Deciding to keep his real name as his performance name was a subtle nod to the type of honesty Tremayne brings to his music.
Following closely behind his explosive returning single ‘Total Fucking Darkness’ revealed in April, Tremayne is quick to make his next move, with second 2022 single ‘Daddy Issues’ featuring Backxwash and fellow label mate Charlie Noiir.
This is a collaboration of epic proportions, Tremayne has solidified his dynamic return with power, intrigue and authority, commanding attention, left, right and centre. All eyes are on him as he delivers yet another potent punch of musical prowess.
Enlisting the ferocious bars of Polaris Prize winner and metal Rap artist Backxwash, Tremayne demonstrates yet again his fearless, explorative and willing nature to push the boundaries, by partnering his unique blend of Rap and Hip Hop with the brash, intensity of Metal. Pioneering the way and inspiring others to collaborate and work together despite their respective genres, ‘Daddy Issues’ is an example of how limitless music is, alongside Tremaynes creativity.
Dripping with confidence and integrity, ‘Total Fucking Darkness’ was the first slice of attitude and punctuated with Tremayne’s prolific energy, ‘Daddy Issues’ keeps the dial moving, captivating the listener from the very beginning.
A vulnerable and emotion-fuelled offering, ‘Daddy Issues’ explores each artist's experience with their subsequent parental figures. Discussing the difficulties these relationships can present and how these pillars can influence growth and adulthood. Tremayne’s tone and calibre remains exciting, creative and utterly unstoppable as he dives deep into the toxicity present in these relationships, navigating the emotions and feelings that can surface such as pride, ignorance, stubbornness, guilt, resentment, confusion and anger in a braggadocios way.
Early career highlights see Tremayne having opened for Canadian hip hop legends Choclair and Classified alongside having performed on the same stage as United States R&B star Tinashe and Atlanta hip hop icon Rich Homie Quan. Also sharing the stage with Kanye West collaborator Sean Leon and Big Freedia, who Drake sampled on hit single ‘Nice For What’. With co-signs from former NY party queen Yesjulz and write ups on reputable platforms such as Vice, Complex and DJBooth it’s safe to say the anticipation for new music from Tremayne is as exciting for some as a Kendrick release.
Tremayne takes a path rarely taken as an up and coming artist with his efforts to constantly create initiatives that support marginalised groups in their battles against injustice and inequality. Some examples are his yearly food drive with his collective STAYOUTLATE, his 2019 single KIDZ BOP 41 where all profits from streaming are being donated to the innocence project, or his initiative in 2020 to raise money for BIPOC mental health centre Across boundaries, where he was able to raise almost $3000 for the centre through sales of his music on bandcamp. He and his collective Stayoutlate look to leave an imprint on the entertainment industry. Carving their own piece of the pie and sharing it with generations to come.
Tremayne is a name you should familiarise yourselves with because he’s here, he’s doing his thing and by the sound of things, he’s here to stay!

Pomona Park
Pomona Park are an Indie/Pop band from Manchester who release their debut single ‘Overdrink’ on all platforms from 17th June, smell it, does it remind you of a new born baby? good, let’s find out some more about them….
This track addresses anxiety, and the frustration of being a serial over thinker. The track was produced by Sugar House music and it was recorded at Mad Fox Studios.
The follow up track ‘Bothered’ will follow soon after in July which leads nicely to them playing a support slot at Manchester’s Deaf Institute on August 20th, if you’re in the area on the date, why not head along and check them out?
Fans of Sam Fender, Blossoms, Alfie Templeman and Harry Styles will feel right at home with Pomona Park in their ears and at the rate they’re releasing new material from June onwards, I don’t think that it’ll be long until they become a mainstay on the Mancunian live music scene, you heard it here first!

The Bergamot
Emmy Award winning band The Bergamot is composed of Brooklyn, NY based husband-wife duo Nathaniel Paul Hoff and Jillian Speece. The band became a household name when their song “Forget About Tomorrow” was featured in Rock Band: Rivals.
People Magazine has said, "The Bergamot is the hottest emerging music talent" while London's Daily Mirror wrote that, "The Bergamot has a gorgeous sound." Earmilk is quoted as “A Perfect Blend” and Parade says “Lush”.
In 2019 they released their third studio album 'Mayflies' which was produced/engineered in London with Matt Wiggins (Adele, Glass Animals, and London Grammar).
Fast forward to 17 June 2022, their new track “Breakdown” is a synth led sonic escape, peppered with some beautifully intricate guitar work that explores the existential doom we are being barraged with on a daily basis. It is vital to remember that we inhabit this world for only a century at best, when the stars have existed for millions of years. Over that span of time the world has been plunged into darkness before. This is not the first generation to be inconvenienced with change and instability. We must seek inspiration and hope from the stars. Remembering that growth is painful but vital - and connects us with generations from the past. Whether it be a global pandemic, world war, continued mental health crisis, increased suicide rates, or global warming - we are amidst a challenging time. "Breakdown" takes the listener from a desperate place of inward focus - to the expanse of the universe around us. The stars around us have seen it all - every moment of history. By remembering this, we can be re-inspired to live to the fullest.
With over half a million streams on DSP’s, The Bergamot returns with an anthemic track. “State of the Unity” The Bergamot’s feature length documentary just premiered at the Sedona International Film Festival to instant critical acclaim winning the “Marion Herrman Excellence in Filmmaking Award”. The film went on to win “Best Documentary” from the Paris Independent Film Festival, and “Best Directors for a Feature Documentary” from DocuFest, The Bergamot returns to their home base with this new track.
The band is set to be on tour all year and appear at the Richmond International Film Festival this month. “Breakdown” will be a new classic in the band's growing catalog.
