NAPALM DEATH to headline ARENA Torquay on February 28th 2026 - Not to be missed....

November 28, 2025

On Saturday 28th February 2026, Torquay’s ARENA is about to be transformed into a nerve centre of noise, a foyer of fury, and…..I can’t think of third word to use, damn you age old brain!

I was trying to create an exciting introduction to let you know that the legends that are Napalm Death will be headlining a night that feels less like a gig and more like a mini-festival of extremity. With thrash, punk, and doom converging under the same roof, this is a rare chance to witness four distinct schools of heavy music collide in a single, unforgettable evening.

Born in the Midlands in 1981, Napalm Death simply redefined what speed, aggression, and political urgency should sound like. Their debut album Scum (1987) split into two sides recorded by different lineups, yet together it became the blueprint for grindcore. Over the decades, the band’s lineup stabilised around Barney Greenway, Shane Embury, Mitch Harris, and Danny Herrera, who have carried the grindcore torch around the world.

Napalm Death’s music is more than mere sonic extremity; it’s a manifesto against injustice, fascism, and complacency. Their live shows are a whirlwind of blast beats, guttural roars, and uncompromising energy — a ritual of resistance as much as a performance.

Ahead of the show, check out some standout tracks from the band:

  • Scum (1987) — the genre-defining title track

  • Suffer the Children (1990) — from Harmony Corruption

  • Breed to Breathe (1997) — evolution in full force

  • The Wolf I Feed (2012) — modern Napalm Death at their sharpest

Creating the four ‘pillars of extremity’ are a further 3 bands;

Whiplash (USA, est. 1984): East Coast thrash veterans whose debut Power and Pain remains a cult classic. Expect razor-sharp riffs and old-school thrash energy that channels the spirit of the ’80s underground.

Varukers (UK, est. 1979): Hardcore punk pioneers of the UK82 movement, fronted by Rat Martin. Their anarcho-punk fire and relentless D-beat rhythms will ignite the pit with raw urgency.

Dopelord (Poland, est. 2010): Stoner doom rising stars, weaving occult themes and crushing riffs into hypnotic soundscapes. Their set will be a haze of fuzz, heaviness, and psychedelic atmosphere.

To me, this feels like a mini festival, rather than just one band, it’s a cross-section of heavy music from the history books. Together, they form a lineup that has played worldwide for 4 decades, and are united by a commitment to extremity and authenticity. Mention the name Napalm Death to any fan of music anywhere in the world and they’ll know what you mean!
