GRAMMY Award-winning recording artist Nate Ruess has announced details of his debut solo album GRAND ROMANTIC, confirmed to release on June 16th through Fueled By Ramen.
Nate’s new single ‘Nothing Without Love’, which precedes the album on June 1, has already hit Top 20 airplay at Alternative and Hot AC in the US. The accompanying video – directed by Anthony Mandler (fun., Rihanna, Taylor Swift) – has now received over 2.8 million YouTube views. Known around the globe as the singer/songwriter of indie pop supergroup fun., Ruess recently appeared as a Key Advisor role on NBC’s The Voice US and performed ‘Nothing Without Love’ live for the first time on TV at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
GRAND ROMANTIC sees Ruess continuing to merge an array of distinct influences into his own voluminous pop songcraft. Inspired by new love, the in-demand singer – whose recent credits include P!nk’s GRAMMY®-nominated #1 hit, ‘Just Give Me A Reason (Feat. Nate Ruess)’ Eminem’s ‘Headlights (Feat. Nate Ruess)’ and Brian Wilson’s hugely anticipated new album, NO PIER PRESSURE. GRAND ROMANTIC - sees widescreen production from long-time collaborators Jeff Bhasker (SOME NIGHTS, Beyoncé, Drake), Emile Haynie (Eminem, Kanye West, Lana Del Rey) and contributions from the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and Lykke Li, both of whom guest on ‘Nothing Without Love’.
Other highlights of GRAND ROMANTIC include ‘Take It Back’ described in a recent Rolling Stone exclusive as “a sombre ballad” showcasing a stellar guitar solo from Wilco main man Jeff Tweedy.
Ruess is set to be honored with the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s prestigious Hal David Starlight Award established to honour gifted songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.
