NEWS: Mama No Likey’s “Mrs. Davis” is a glam-rock guillotine for the Patriarchy....

July 8, 2025

In a world of curated smiles and pastel perfection, Mama No Likey just lit a match and tossed it into the dollhouse. Their new single “Mrs. Davis” is a blood-slicked, riff-heavy rebellion—equal parts satire, scream therapy, and femme fatale fantasy. It’s the sound of a woman snapping in slow motion, and it’s glorious.

Frontwoman Hannah Nalley doesn’t just sing—she seethes. “It’s about the pressure women face to be beautiful, quiet, agreeable... and what happens when they stop smiling and start fighting back,” she says. Inspired by real women—including her own mother, who once hurled a stiletto into drywall with surgical precision—Nalley channels rage into razor-sharp lyricism. The line that sparked it all? “She’s heavily medicated, but damn she looks good.” From there, the character of Mrs. Davis was born: a manicured menace with a vendetta and a killer wardrobe.

The track opens with a filthy, swaggering riff from guitarist Troy Gale—equal parts AC/DC grit and glam-rock sleaze—before exploding into a thunderous groove courtesy of drummer William Haupricht. Nalley’s vocals slink and snarl, moving from sultry whispers to full-throttle fury. It’s a sonic cocktail of lipstick, gasoline, and revenge.

The accompanying video, directed by Dan Masso (We’re All Gonna Die), is a retro fever dream set in Palm Springs. Picture this: 1960s housewife noir meets Pulp Fiction absurdity. There are trench coats, cheating husbands, pool boys, and a murder-by-Jimmy-Choo moment that deserves its own Oscar. It’s camp, it’s chaos, and it’s cathartic.

Formed by accident in a Los Angeles rehearsal studio, Mama No Likey are a trio of sonic misfits with a shared mission: make rock dangerous, relevant, and sexy again. Their sound is a cocktail of No Doubt sass, Bikini Kill bite, and the unfiltered energy of early MTV.

  • Hannah Nalley (vocals): A Missouri-born outlaw with a poet’s pen and a punk’s heart. Her lyrics are equal parts rage and razor wit.

  • William Haupricht (drums): A Detroit native who fuses hip-hop bounce with funk-rock thunder.

  • Troy Gale (guitar): An Aussie import whose riffs are equal parts elegance and felony.

Together, they’re not just making music—they’re staging a stylish insurrection.

For fans of The Kills, Joan Jett, AC/DC, and anyone who’s ever fantasised about torching the patriarchy in a silk robe—this one’s for you.
