NEWS: NADIA SHEIKH unveils stirring indie pop anthem 'Memories' - premiered on BBC 6 Music

May 14, 2025

Nadia Sheikh is set to captivate hearts once again with her latest release, “Memories,” a soulful indie pop composition with a raw rock undertone. The track beautifully marries introspective lyrical themes of longing and the bittersweet residue of lost love with the nostalgic hues of early-2000s alt-pop-rock, echoing the spirit of contemporary songstresses such as Olivia Rodrigo, GAYLE, and Lexi Jayde.

“Memories” marks the follow-up to the celebratory success of her previous single “How To Lose A Friend,” which garnered enthusiastic support from BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X. With intimate verses that gradually builds into an anthemic finale, the song encapsulates the delicate interplay between heartache and the enduring beauty of treasured moments. Crafted by Nadia in collaboration with her band members, Rowan Davies and George Gardiner, the single was first showcased on BBC Radio 6 Music by none other than Chris Hawkins.

Chris Hawkins remarked, “What I really love about this is the big build and the emotionally charged chorus. Nadia is an artist who truly deserves your attention.”

Reflecting on the creative journey behind the song, Nadia shares, “‘Memories’ is one of my favourite tracks I’ve ever penned. It might sound cliché, but as I was writing it, I felt this undeniable spark—the kind that assures you the piece will always have a special place.” Her candid admission appeals to fans and industry insiders alike, underscoring the intimate connection she forges with her music.

Half-British and half-Spanish, Nadia is not only a gifted songwriter and multi-instrumentalist but also an artist who seamlessly bridges cultures by writing in both English and Spanish. Her music is a compelling melding of tender vulnerability and bold strength, addressing themes ranging from heartbreak and mental health to empowering narratives around women’s visibility. With guitar-driven, anthemic hooks and memorable choruses, her artistry stands as a beacon for raw emotion and authenticity.

Nadia’s star shines brightly on the international live scene. She is gearing up for an exciting gig at Brighton’s Grand Central Hotel on 15th May as part of The Great Escape festival, followed by a performance at Oviedo’s Plaza Kuivi Almacenes in Spain on 29th June. Her dynamic stage presence has already earned her notable credits—including supporting PJ Harvey at Madrid’s Noches del Botánico and embarking on a 19-date European tour with Stereophonics. Additionally, she’s graced stages at celebrated festivals such as Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight, Kendal Calling, and FIB (Benicàssim), not to mention her headline tours across the UK and Spain.

Drawing comparisons and accolades in line with esteemed acts like Sam Fender, Wolf Alice, Nothing But Thieves, Avril Lavigne, Holly Humberstone, and Alanis Morrisette, Nadia Sheikh is undoubtedly among the most compelling talents emerging on the global music circuit.

Nadia Sheikh’s “Memories” invites listeners into a world of poignant nostalgia and emotional resonance—an experience that reaffirms her reputation as a trailblazing artist with a unique blend of tenderness and verve.
