IDLES’ new album ‘TANGK’ has shot straight to #1 on the UK album chart, becoming their second chart-topping set after ‘Ultra Mono’ in 2020.

The album has emerged to a rush of critical acclaim - including twenty-one 4/5★ reviews from key UK national media alone - alongside some rapturously received intimate album launch shows.
Vocalist Joe Talbot says:
“Make no mistake. Getting to Number 1 is down to one thing and one thing only. Our loyal and beautiful friends that have supported and carried us all the way here. We will bask in gratitude. Love”
Produced by Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, The Smile, Beck), Kenny Beats (Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, Benee) and the bands very own Mark Bowen, ‘TANGK’ extends an explosive run of unerringly stirring albums which have seen IDLES rise from underground favourites to a two-time Grammy Award-nominated band with a global following.
The album campaign was ignited by the lead single “Dancer”, featuring LCD Soundsystem duo James Murphy and Nancy Whang, as well as a packed secret show at The Village Underground. The video for the second single “Grace” also proved to be a huge conversational point, by recreating Coldplay’s famous “Yellow” visual by using deepfake AI tech used to give the impression that Chris Martin is instead singing “Grace”. The Coldplay frontman helped to train the AI to make his performance look more realistic, while the project was further supported by the original video’s directors James Frost and Alex Smith.
Another landmark moment came with a typically full-force performance of “Gift Horse” on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’. Joe Talbot also engaged in a very different project when he read Davina Bell’s ‘Under The Love Umbrella’, which was broadcast earlier this week for the children’s TV channel CBeebies’ Bedtime Story slot.
A range of ‘TANGK’ physical formats are still available from IDLES’ official store, including a small quantity of The Midnight Edition - a limited edition 12” pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl and featuring alternate artwork.
IDLES are now taking ‘TANGK’ across the world, hitting Europe, North America, Mexico, the UK and Ireland before the year is out. Multiple shows are sold-out months in advance but remaining tickets are available HERE. Their upcoming shows are:
