As the dust begins to settle on Peace unveiling ‘World Pleasure’ - they now hit us with news of the first official single to launch their exciting 2014 ahead.
‘Money’ – to be released on Columbia Records on June 9th - is the first piece of new music to be named a single and it marks a definitive and confident step forward for Harry, Sam, Doug & Dom. The band debuted the track at the end of last year whilst playing two sell-out shows at Shepherds Bush Empire and since then it has been masterfully recorded and produced by Jim Abiss.
"I wrote Money at some point last year whilst trying to write a song about anything but myself. I realised I wasn't born into it & I still don't have it & as a song it just seemed to work. It's not negative, bitter or whingey. I just feel like this year I got a ticket to the circus & I'm trying to decide if I'm a lion or a clown.” Harry Koisser
The video for the track, is directed by Ninian Doff (http://www.niniandoff.com). Peace make a very suave (albeit brief) cameo as classic Wall Street bankers as other big wigs parade the corridors brimming with bolshi bravado trying to outdo each other with complex secret handshakes. Ninian explains how Harry was keen for the video to be indicative of that time and should involve excess and debauchery; the shackles were off.
Last year Peace established themselves firmly as one of the UK’s most important young bands – a tag only gained by relentless live touring, incredible festival moments and a debut album that won over critics and drives of fans. Towards the end of 2013 Harry & co found themselves back in the studio with creative juices flowing and material for their follow-up record in abundance.
Peace have also recently announced a string of UK tour dates for May/June which will see them play towns across the country that they didn’t get to visit on the ‘In Love’ campaign. They will also appear at key festivals including a headline slot at Dot to Dot and stepping up the main stage at Reading & Leeds festival in August. See all shows HERE.
