RAG ‘N’ BONE MAN WILL ALSO BE PERFORMING A HEADLINE SHOW ON JUNE 7TH AT VILLAGE UNDERGROUND
Rory Graham, AKA Rag’n’Bone Man, has had a pretty intense 12 months following the release of his 4 track Disfigured EP last March - with lead track, Bitter End, being championed by BBC Radio 1 Xtra and being supported on the In New Music We Trust Radio 1 playlist.
His lively Rag’n’Bone Man Presents curated shows in London, Manchester, Brighton and Bristol all sold out and his festival appearances at Eurosonic, The Great Escape, Boardmasters, Lovebox and Glastonbury all ended with rapturous applause from new fans and old, bowled over by his big voice and a jaw dropping acapella.
New music from Rory is always an event and after months of patient waiting, he is ready to announce a collaborative track, ‘Healed.’ The awesome track is the result of sessions with producer and label head of The Full Hundred, Oliver Rodigan (aka Cadenza). A woozy, summer-tinged jam, “Healed" showcases the talents of both artists perfectly. Rags’ hugely emotive blues-infused vocal and Cadenza’s musical heritage are fused with a sample of “Woodstock”, performed by Matthew Southern Comfort in the track, which was recorded in London and Jamaica. Rory has also been working on his own music – more information on which will follow this year.
Speaking of the collaboration, Rory states: "Sometimes when you get in a room with new people and try to write a song it can be a strange experience. You're trying to give something personal. Delivering truth in a song with a stranger can be awkward. It wasn't the case with this collaboration, it came together so easily. I straightaway felt at ease with Cadenza's production style. He's got a great ear for samples and you can hear his influences when he's making a track - he's a proper music guy!"
Cadenza continues: “Healed was the result of my first ever session with Rag'n'Bone Man. I had seen him play at Boomtown last year and thought his voice was astonishing so it was great to get to work together”
Oliver Rodigan, known as Cadenza, had released music via Mad Decent, Fools Gold and Mixpak, before signing to Columbia Records. His debut single “Foundation” featured Busy Signal and Stylo G, and he is about to release his debut EP No Drama as a follow up. The collection promises the best in Bass-infused world beats, Dancehall, and Reggae influences.
Released on 22nd April 2016, the pair decided to celebrate “Healed” with a night of live music. On June 7th, Rag'n’Bone Man and Cadenza will headline an evening celebrating the collaboration and showcase their latest material in the iconic Village Underground venue in East London. The evening will include music from Rag'n’Bone Man, Cadenza and Louis Mattrs - three burgeoning UK talents sharing an amazing night. Tickets go on general sale on Tuesday with a special fan pre-sale on Monday.
