RELEASE/LIVE: JAMIE WEBSTER announces new single 'Across the River' ahead of Glastonbury and live summer dates....

May 23, 2025

Hoping for more, hating the boss and uniting in defiant joy are packed into a headrush of upbeat melody and aspirational lyricism from Jamie Webster, as he looks into a summer of major outdoor appearances with his first new music of 2025, Across The River – OUT NOW. While indelibly linked to his home city as part of the modern cultural fabric of Liverpool, Webster’s absence from airwaves and playlists since the release of 2024’s UK Top Ten album, 10 For The People comes down to roving far and wide, taking his voice to distant corners of the globe.

Revelling in a winter tour to Australia and being immersed in autumn’s colours across Europe, the artist that has fought against fashion to define common struggle, ambition and against-the-odds camaraderie through his songs, has found fans far from the banks of the River Mersey. Seeing out last year’s UK touring schedule with some of the biggest arena shows of his career, including a SOLD-OUT Glasgow OVO Hydro, it’s with no small sense of anticipation that Webster returns this summer with his fourth, consecutive Glastonbury Festival appearance, plus a run of major, outdoor dates on the road with James.

Before packing up and hitting the motorways again, the spoils of Webster’s productive writing sessions with Kieran Shudall from Circa Waves is given to listeners as a peppy, positively upbeat anthem to soundtrack their own journeys to festival sites in the coming months. Across The River, packed end-to-end with rushing thoughts of strength in tough times, the love of the live experience and dreaming of telling the boss to ‘do one’, opens the artist’s account in the middle of an already busy year.

Continuing to collaborate with a roll call of high-profile Liverpool personalities making waves on the national stage, after working with MMA legend, Molly McCann in the video for Voice Of The Voiceless and actor, Jack McMullen for Davey Kane, the video for Across The River features James Nelson-Joyce from the hit BBC crime drama, This City Is Ours.

“Kieran and I had worked together on ‘Breadline’ the day before, which was quite heavy, so we made the conscious decision to write another that was a pure dopamine hit.” says Webster. “It’s a song that collective joy, inspired by a chat with a hugely intelligent mate about what elements of our existence can be truly universal. It’s about defiance, about all of us, no matter who we are and what our bank balance is, wanting to find that little stretch of warm, blue sea once our work is done.

He continues: “The title comes from the feeling of looking across at the other side, wondering whether the grass is greener. Could we get to the other side and really be alive? Perhaps above all, this is a direct address to the fans that have stuck by me, our collective joy. We’ve been on this ride together, we’ll always remember it and we’ll always be together.”

Following the release of 10 For The People, Webster’s third UK Top Ten album following 2020’s breakthrough debut, We Get By and 2022’s Moments, he took to the stage at Sefton Park in Liverpool for a breathtaking performance in front of 32,000 people. Celebrating in style, Webster shared the stage with invited members of The Zutons, Echo and The Bunnymen and national treasure actor, Ricky Tomlinson.

Turning every show into its own celebration of communal joy, with more gigs and new music announcements set to come this year, all of the upcoming festival and outdoor dates for Jamie Webster are confirmed as follows:
