Doobie Fontaine have announced their new single, “Sugarcoated”, to be released on 13th December.
Doobie Fontaine are a musical alter ego for a roving international four-piece from the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Based in London, they make timeless, country highway-inspired music, with hints of blissed-out psychedelia and invoking pastoral bliss.
“Sugarcoated” follows the brilliant “Never Fall In Love” which was released earlier this year.
The band play a launch party for “Sugarcoated” on Friday 20th December at The Shacklewell Arms.
Of the track, frontman Jack Oliver says:
”Contrary to the opening lyrics this isn’t a kind of break-up/make-up love song. It’s more a cathartic self-help piece. I wrote it during a pretty isolating period in the city; finding the muse, exorcising it, and coming out feeling like a better person but a worse artist. A lot of my songs have this kind of duality to them; a dialogue between suburban melancholy and pastoral bliss (the latter usually being the remedy). I think being an artist today - particularly in a place like London - can be a debilitating experience. We work day jobs. We take the tube. We routinely get fucked over by the powers that be. Writing - at least in the Doobie Fontaine mould - is a pharmacopeia that opens doors to introspection and one’s place in the world.”
Doobie Fontaine are:
Jack Oliver - vocals/guitar
Simon Shields - guitar
Kyrone Oak - bass
Toto Vivian - guitar/keys
