The mighty SHADOWPARTY play at Exeter Phoenix on Sept 15th, tickets available NOW....

September 11, 2018

Featuring two members of New Order and two from art rockers Devo, Shadowparty's eponymous debut album is bristling with hi-energy synth pop. Featuring vocals from Denise Johnson (Primal Scream, New Order, A Certain Ratio) and guitar from Nick McCabe (The Verve) it has received rave reviews across the board. Their eponymously titled debut album is available now.

Support is provided by local indie pop favourites Stella Martyr, making their first appearance in Exeter this year.

Tickets for the show are available HERE

SHADOWPARTY

The nucleus of Shadowparty formed when Josh Hager and Tom Chapman met in Boston, Massachusetts. Josh is a former member of The Rentals who currently plays guitar and keyboards in Devo. Tom Chapman is the former bass player of Bad Lieutenant who followed frontman Bernard Sumner to New Order in 2011 when the band reunited for a series of charity gigs. Completing the group are Phil Cunningham, Marion founding member and New Order’s guitarist since 2002, and drummer Jeff Friedl, who plays with Devo.

STELLA MARTYR

Born out of a shared desire to create, Stella Martyr was formed in Exeter in 2012. Their sound might best be described as ‘Electronic pop music with guitars’.

  • David Myers – Vocals
  • Spencer Roberts – Guitars
  • Spike Myers – Guitars, Keyboards, Programming
  • Jim Simpson – Bass, Vocals
  • Joe Duddell – Drums, Guitar, Programming, Piano
  • Annie Rew Shaw – Keyboards and Piano

You won’t find any love songs here, Stella Martyr inhabit the worlds of dystopia, alienation, nature, disease and conflict, but totally believe in beauty and the human spirit.
