Shifting Buffalo, aka Ben Fuller is set to release his new album 'Tempus Fugit Already' on August 18th. 14 original songs, drawing on a variety of influences, all composed through the “immersion composition” method.
Whilst the album has an upbeat feel, some of the songs were born out of grief over the loss of friends and loved ones. Indeed one song on the album, Soap Box, was written by a friend, Jon Walker, shortly before he lost his battle with cancer. ShiftingBuffalo’s recording of Jon’s song is included on this album in his memory, with the kind permission of his family.
The man behind Shifting Buffalo is Ben Fuller, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, based in Hertfordshire. This is his second full-length album; the first was ‘Carpe Diem, baby’ released in 2011. Prior to that was the EP ‘Wrong!’, released 2008. Ben has been an active member of an Immersion Composition Society group, known as the Burning Lodge, since 2007.
Ben draws on a wide range of artists, spanning many genres, including Crowded House, REM, Pink Floyd, Elbow, Muse, early Genesis, Roddy Frame and anything involving Dave Grohl, as well as late 19th and early 20th century classical music. This perhaps explains why it is hard to pin down the exact genre of his music, which he describes as ‘post-prog/indie/folk/pop/rock’.
