"distinctly from the school of Oasis, Embrace and Shed Seven with a grungy edge added on for good measure"
THE SCOTTISH DAILY EXPRESS
"Regent seem to catch the mood and catch the moment. Indie Rock ’n’ Roll to make you think, more than capable of smacking you round the chops, is what’s on offer from the Southampton four-piece who are ready to make a major mark with their debut album."
ORIGINAL ROCK
"all the swagger of a band ready to explode"

With a string of thunderous singles under their belts, including the careering and catchy “You Wanna Play With Me” and the ferocious “Yes It’s Love”, the snarling indie-rock four-piece’s first full-length LP is finally here and is already attracting warm reviews.
With a heady amalgam of rip-roaring rock beats, reverb-laden driving guitars and feel-good earworm melodies that writhe in the head long after each track is finished, ‘Just A Revolution’ leads the charge as Regent pioneer their own insurgent brand of modern day rock’n’roll.
Formidable title track “Just A Revolution” ripples with live-ready riffs and amps up raucous rock influences of yesteryear with a distinctive modern feel. With the track also paying homage to the band’s beginnings, frontman Ben Rooke explains:
“This is a track I wrote when I first decided to get back into music seriously, and it came at a time when I was at my worst, taking lots of drugs and going through a bad break up. The song is about moving away to the other side of town and into the countryside. It also quotes the start of Regent as a band/idea/thing I wanted to create.. I formed the band and current line up three years later, after getting clean from Class A drugs.”
Gnawing through a wide range of themes including love, loss, good times, dark times and attempts to navigate the music industry without major label backing, the twelve-track album swings from catchy feel-good anthems to darker and more vulnerable moments with ease.
From the fuzzy and infectious “She Rocks My Soul” — a track that navigates the “tough time” had by Ben and his wife trying to navigate marriage and visa negotiations in the midst of the pandemic — to “Seven Seas” a melodic Britpop-tinged track grappling with “being worn out and wanting to escape the madness”, and from “upbeat love song” “Again” to the clanging drums and roaring riffs on danceable “Let’s Go Out”, 'Just A Revolution’ is a testament to Regent’s blossoming status as indie-rock ones-to-watch across the summer and beyond.
Regent are Ben Rooke (vocals), Chris Woolf (lead guitar/keys/piano), Luke Trundell (bass/guitar) and George Grattan (drums). After gaining a cult following across the UK and a reputation as one of Southampton’s finest emerging acts, the band have been praised by Louder Than War, Earmilk and Gigslutz amongst others, and have gained radio play from Radio X, Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing as well as RTE2 in Ireland and SiriusXM in the US.
The group’s merciless sound has also attracted attention across the world of TV and sport, with their previous singles receiving airplay on Soccer AM, Sky Sports Darts, the Premier League, BBC Six Nations Rugby and most recently BBC One’s Match of the Day.
