The latest single from The Ghost of Helags strips their trademark synth/pop to its most ethereal, whilst pushing it into adventurous new soundscapes with subtle yet propulsive, techno-fied beats.

Written while travelling across Europe under the shadow of a looming lockdown, Teresa of the band says of ‘Mary':

"Mary was written and recorded during a writing session in a cottage in the Giant Mountains district, a wild national park area on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic. Traveling was still allowed but a lockdown was looming so everything was very deserted and empty, the border town almost felt like a ghost town. Everything felt surreal. We´d combine recording at the cottage with long day walks in the gloomy forests, and recording sessions at night. Eventually we had to escape the area because of the country closing its borders, so we drove back to Berlin through the night and managed to cross the border at the last second”.

The Ghost of Helags are singer-songwriter and producer duo Teresa Woischiski and John Alexander Ericson. Hailing from Sweden and now located in Berlin, the pairing combine the dream pop sounds of their Scandinavian roots with the electronic nuances inspired by their newfound home and beyond. ‘Mary’ is the latest in a string of innovative and exploratory singles by the duo and swiftly follows the seductive Lynchian-inspired synth-pop of recent singles ‘Parallel’ and ‘Chemistry’. Other highlights of their expanding repertoire include the New Music Friday playlisted debut single ‘I Carry Your Heart’, ‘Autobahn Lullaby’ (a tribute to their Berlin home) and 2019’s hymnal ‘The Santa Rosa Song’.
