Yes folks, RSD 2014 is only 24 hours away, saying this, people have been known to start queueing from 11pm the NIGHT BEFORE.....mental !!!
I was stood in a one man queue at The Drift Record shop in Totnes a couple of years ago from 4:30am, someone ambled up at 8:20am and asked me if I'd been there long, naturally, I said that I had only been there 10 minutes, the fact that the police had 'bothered' me at least 4 times since 5am is beside the point !!
So, what can you expect from the hallowed racks of your local independent Record Shop this year, the list of 'exclusives' is endless, even a Russian Oligarch couldn't afford to buy them all.
I have read through the list of goodies being made available to UK shops this year and to be honest, there are a couple of items that are getting me quite moist. If I thought about it practically, I wouldn't be buying anything as the only money we have saved is for our annual holiday, I guess the kids won't be able to tell the difference between Corfu and Cornwall (aside from the weather, the climate, the food, the temperature of the sea, the language and other things) but hey ho, if it means me getting what I want at RSD 2014, the kids will have to put up with another UK holiday....
This year, Musicmuso will be visiting The Drift Record Shop in Totnes, handing out goodies to people in the queue and chatting to people about their wish lists. Once the mayhem is underway and the tills have been ringing for about an hour, we will be chatting to the same people to see how many of the 'exclusives' they managed to bag.
To whet your whistles, here's a LIST of the stuff that The Drift Record Shop have managed to secure for RSD 2014...
We'll also be in store taking pics of people coming and going, enjoying the tunes and generally rocking out to the atmosphere that a room full of vinyl junkies, high on strong coffee and cake brings. These will be available on the musicmuso.com website as soon as we have been able to photoshop them to make everyone look slightly human.....
I (Steve) will also be attending the 5pm live show by the awesome Exeter act 'The Computers', if you haven't seen these guys before, drop everything and get yourself in the shop during the day to pick up a wrist band, they are an awesome live act and guarantee to get the place rockin'
We'll see you in the queue from 7am !!
Cheers
Steve & Co aka The Management....
