Manchester’s fast-rising rock band The Blinders will be heading out on a huge tour of the UK in September. Starting off with a performance at London’s renowned Electric Ballroom and ending with a date at Manchester’s own Albert Hall, the tour sees them travel the across the entire country, stopping everywhere from Glasgow to Southsea. Tickets are available here.
The band have recently finished a string of headline shows that had been rescheduled from 2020, using the shows as an opportunity to debut a new line up which sees them extend their ranks to that of a quintet. Vocalist and guitarist Thomas Haywood and bass guitarist Charlie McGough are now joined by second guitarist Eoghan Clifford, drummer Thomas Castrey and Johnny James Berry on keys, the new additions adding a deeper, more uncompromising layer to their sound.
Involving additional musicians in the line-up is something the band explored on The Lounge Lizard Sessions, a limited edition live album that the band released earlier this year; a collection of rearranged compositions more suited to intimate performances, evolved from a series of stripped-back shows. After falling in love with their new-found approach, they found themselves wanting to dive into their music and explore its sonic depth via additional instrumentation and experimentation, and thus snowballed into making that depth a permanent addition.
The Lounge Lizard Sessions followed their second album Fantasies Of A Stay At Home Psychopath, released to widespread acclaim in July 2020. Exploring existential despair, mental health and society’s ills in a time of planetary crisis, the upcoming tour serves as a long overdue celebration of its release ahead of turning the page into their next chapter.
Stay tuned for new music and more exciting news in the very near future as The Blinders gear up to burst back into action and end 2021 with a bang.
