Punk and new wave legend Billy Idol will be returning to the city of Las Vegas with a series of performances this coming October. It’s all going down at The Cosmopolitan, a luxury hotel, casino, and resort on the famed Vegas Strip.
"The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has remained at the forefront of the Las Vegas entertainment scene for the last ten years. We are honored to host Billy Idol at The Chelsea for what is sure to be an unforgettable re-introduction of live entertainment to the resort," detailed the casino’s vice president of entertainment, Fedor Banuchi. "As Las Vegas continues to rebound, we look forward to releasing details on new and exciting live concerts and events coming this summer to the resort."
Hot In The City
For now, we can expect what promises to be a rocking four nights in October. In what is called a limited residency with The Cosmopolitan, Billy Idol is slated to perform on October 16, 17, 22, and 23 at The Chelsea, a 40,000 square-foot venue designed for epic live acts.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal which ran a story on the announcement, lists several of the songs in the rocker’s set list. This includes ‘80s hits such as White Wedding, Eyes Without A Face, Rebel Yell, Cradle of Love, and Flesh for Fantasy.
Before this upcoming stint at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan, Idol’s last Vegas gig was at Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms in March 2020 – right before the closure came into effect. And now, more than a year later, we could see him return by way of The Cosmopolitan – if the pandemic doesn’t change the casino-resort’s plans.
Can’t Break Me Down
Accompanying Idol is his axe-man and songwriting collaborator, Steve Stevens. As Idol’s guitarist for the last 25 years, Stevens – and his groovy electric guitar effects – were essential to Idol’s rise. His presence in the upcoming October shows means that audiences will be treated to the many sonic soundscapes he makes with his signature Knaggs guitar. His solos in the aforementioned tracks will no doubt be powered by his J. Rockett Rockaway Archer overdrive and boost pedal, which as Idol fans know has been a staple in the guitarist’s live rig. In short, Billy Idol is coming to Vegas armed to the teeth. And there is no doubt that the equally legendary Steve Stevens will be bringing the heat.
Cradle of Love
As pandemic restrictions ease up following the roll-out of vaccines, we can expect more residencies and other live gigs to be announced in Vegas soon.
