THE SCRIPT open a new chapter with ‘The User’s Guide To Being Human’

May 22, 2026

The Script have never been a band to shy away from the big emotions — grief, resilience, identity, the messy business of being alive. But their newly announced album, ‘The User’s Guide To Being Human’, feels like a line in the sand: a rebirth, a recalibration, and a reminder of why Danny O’Donoghue remains one of the most emotionally direct songwriters of his generation.

Landing 14th August 2026, the record arrives with its first single, ‘Man In The Arena’, a skyscraping, chest‑thumping anthem built for arenas and catharsis in equal measure. It’s The Script stepping forward with purpose — and with something to say.

The emotional weight behind this new era is impossible to ignore. Danny’s words hit hard:

“Most people will never fully understand the relationship I have with words and music… When my father died, that grief became fuel for the best songs I could write.”

After the loss of bandmate and lifelong friend Mark Sheehan in 2023, The Script’s 2024 album ‘Satellites’ became a vessel for grief. The world tour that followed turned into a nightly tribute — a celebration of Mark’s life, legacy and impact. But when the tour wrapped, something shifted. Danny didn’t retreat. He created.

Within a week he was writing again, reconnecting with long‑time collaborators Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner and Jimbo Barry — the team behind some of the band’s biggest moments (‘Hall of Fame’, ‘Breakeven’, ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’). The result? A record written in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, soaked in clarity, purpose and a renewed sense of identity.

Built on a muscular R&B groove that erupts into a classic Script chorus, ‘Man In The Arena’ draws inspiration from Theodore Roosevelt’s famous speech — a reminder that courage belongs to those who step into the spotlight, not those who criticise from the sidelines.

Danny puts it plainly:

“The honours belong to the one who gets in there and whose face is marred with dust and blood.”

It’s a message that feels tailor‑made for this moment in the band’s story.

The album promises a full spectrum of emotion — the kind of soul‑deep connection Script fans live for. Danny describes it as:

“A reminder of the feelings and emotions that make you feel human.”

Formats include CD, Limited transparent vinyl, Artist‑store exclusives, Ultra‑limited test pressings & Cassette. Fans who pre‑order via the official store unlock early access to tour tickets.

The Script will hit the road for a UK & Ireland arena tour starting October 2026, with further dates confirmed across Europe, Asia and Australia. Before that, they’ll play to 1.3 million people this summer as special guests to Take That, followed by a run of shows with Luke Combs, including the iconic Slane Castle. This is shaping up to be one of the biggest years of their career.

For a band with 6 UK #1 albums, 8 Irish #1s, 14 billion streams, 5 million album sales & 4.5 million tickets sold, you’d forgive them for slowing down.

Instead, The Script are choosing reinvention — not by abandoning who they are, but by doubling down on the emotional honesty that made them global favourites in the first place.
