Bursting onto an already bustling music scene in 2014 Black Honey delighted immediately with their squalling guitars, vivid colours and cinematic vignettes, there’s no other British band out there quite like them!
Having spent the last four years honing their craft, everything you think you know about them and their unique surrealist world is about to be wonderfully shaken up as they prepare to release their hugely anticipated self-titled debut album. It’s an album that celebrates being human, in all its different forms and by doing so, will touch the hearts of everyone that hears it.
When I first witnessed Black Honey perform last year in Exeter, I knew nothing about them but from the first notes they played, I instantly knew that they were something special and I have been in love with them and their music ever since.
I was REALLY excited when a promo copy of the album landed in my inbox and I won’t lie to you by saying that it went straight onto my laptop and has stayed there on constant repeat ever since! Every song on this album is amazing. I wouldn’t be lying if I said “Midnight” has been stuck in my head pretty much every day, a real ‘earworm’ of a track to say the least! “Into the Nightmare”, which was co-written by Mike Kerr (Royal Blood) is so beautiful, I’m just waiting for the day I can hear it performed live and ‘get on down’ to it!
The album truly is a stunning debut and you can tell that it’s going to sound amazing when performed live. Izzy’s voice is utterly captivating and if you haven’t been entranced by it voice yet, then you haven’t yet had the pleasure of treating your ears to Black Honey.
