Australian based alt-pop producer, Thief (aka PJ Wolf) has released his unique electronic cover of Justin Timberlake’s 2002 R&B hit ‘Cry Me A River’. Thief has stripped back the verse to a simple bass line and hand clap, leaving room for his vocals to float effortlessly above, before leading into the brass fuelled, punchy chorus.
Thief released his debut EP last month, which includes his latest single ‘Closer’ which encapsulates his well-honed skill for writing perfect pop tracks. The ‘Closer EP’ was co-produced by Matt Redlich (Emma Louise, The Trouble With Templeton) and creates a fresh minimalist sound to rival the likes of Metronomy, Miike Snow and Frank Ocean for which Thief has already received fantastic accolades, including winning Triple J’s ‘Unearthed Top Song’ competition and a nomination for the prestigious ‘Vanda and Young’ songwriting award.
The Closer EP was released on May 12th via Rabble Records.
