Like most people I found this waiting to be sent to my library from a certain site. I must admit I was quite excited as I am a fan and we haven’t had an album from this group for some years. I was away when this was released, so when I made it home today I eagerly downloaded this. I will admit I was a bit worried that this wouldn’t be any good, after all why would they be giving this away in a digital format? But then I heard how much they were reputedly paid for this stunt and it does make sense.
So for those who don’t have an Apple account and thus missed out on this you can purchase the CD version. Forget about the controversy surrounding this with this automatically being foisted on people, this is a great album to listen to and is a must for all fans. I will admit that if you were thinking that this may be something slightly different from their normal fare then you will be disappointed, this is solid traditional U2 as we have come to love them. I will admit that listening to this I can’t really find a weak track here, this is just a great album, and due to its unusual digital release will enter the annals of music history.
One thing I have heard is that Bono has mentioned that the band are working on an album called rather aptly ‘Songs of Experience’, and I have been led to believe that we won’t have to wait as long for that album as we have had to for this one.
