Metal Trio from Brooklyn New York sign to Sony and are poised to release their debut single
Most 12 and 13 year olds spend their time thinking about how to avoid doing their homework and football practice or what they are going to eat for their tea. Then there are Unlocking The Truth, a trio of young metalheads from Brooklyn, New York who are armed with guitars and a desire to blow you away with their monster riffs, and they will!
Unlocking The Truth recently signed to Sony and are currently in the studio recording their debut album. They were recently invited by Metallica to perform with them at Heavy Metal Festival in Montreal, Quebec on August 9th. They have also shared a stage with the likes of Queens Of The Stoneage, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Living Colour, Guns N’ Roses and are the youngest band ever to play Coachella and Vans Warped tour.
They comprise of three friends from Brooklyn: Malcolm Brickhouse (guitarist), 13; Jarad Dawkins (drummer), 12; and Alec Atkins (bassist), 13. They are barely into their teens and are already the centre of a storm of activity and excitement. With their youth and undeniable shit hot technical skills on their side, Unlocking The Truth could be the band to make a very big mark on the world of heavy metal.
Juggling recording, playing live and normal teen activities such as studying have become common practice for the little guys. Before singing to Sony they began attracting attention with their street performances in both Times Square and Washington Square, NYC. These performances set their socials alight and gained over a million hits on You Tube.
