“Epic. Mr Daniel Steer, the man himself. He's gone solo and the project is sounding fantastic. He does it with aplomb.” - Sarah Gosling, BBC Introducing
‘Monster’ is the third single from Daniel Steer’s forthcoming solo album due for release in February 2020. The album sees a return to Daniel’s indie rock roots and exudes the optimism of a man who has confronted his demons head on and has overcome. Dark places are visited and ghosts are exorcised with uplifting, infectious melodies and quirky lyrics.
Songs from the album were previewed live this month at a headline show at Exeter Phoenix and as support for Feeder on their recent tour dates.
Daniel says, “Monster was written about how a bad relationship can turn you both into that person you don’t know or recognise. The video reflects how a relationship breakdown can leave you with a sense of brooding, isolation and displacement. I love that it is retro and surreal at the same time and contrasts with the frenetic energy of the song reflecting that feeling of time slowing down in my head”.
As lead singer of rock band Reigning Days, Daniel has performed on main stages and toured extensively throughout Europe, the USA, India, Russia and in the UK at Glastonbury, Download, Latitude, 2,000 Trees, The Great Escape and supported US rockers Wilson and Feeder on tour. His music has been played in the UK and internationally on BBC Radio 1, Radio X, Amazing Radio, Planet Rock, Virgin and Kroq. He has had tracks in the Top 10 in the Kerrang!, Scuzz and MTV charts and was Number 1 on Apple Rock. His tracks have several million streams on Spotify. He has also had considerable synch success with tracks on BBC TV, US dramas, an ABC trailer, FIFA goals of the week and Hollywood feature films.
