Wildwood Kin have released the live video for their brand new single ‘Warrior Daughter’, filmed during their recent performance at the beautiful Minack Theatre, Cornwall. The announcement comes in celebration of the single being added to the BBC Radio 2 C List this week.
A call-to-action for female empowerment, ‘Warrior Daughter’ tells the story of a passionate mother sending her daughter into battle as a headstrong leader and foreboding force. The mystical harmonies of Wildwood Kin – sisters Beth and Emillie Key and Cousin Meghann Loney – seduce the soul whilst stirring the heart with a driving vigour of strings and percussion.
‘Warrior Daughter’ has clocked up close to 200,000 streams on Spotify in four weeks and joins the Radio 2 playlist alongside Seth Lakeman’s latest single ‘Meet Me In The Twilight’, which the girls also feature on.
Wildwood Kin have received consistent praise from the station, originally rising through their Introducing series with their highly acclaimed Salt Of The Earth EP in 2015, which saw the band named in the shortlist for the Radio 2 Folk Awards last year.
They recently completed an Under The Apple Tree session on Bob Harris’ show, which he pronounced on Twitter, "One of the most beautiful #UnderTheAppleTree sessions ever?! Stunning"
Wildwood Kin performed at the station’s Introducing showcase during the Big Weekend in Exeter 2016, which was just one date on their impressive and extensive touring schedule for this year.
The band played numerous performances at summer festivals including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival and more. They have most recently been touring in support of The Oh Hellos and head out on tour with Seth Lakeman this month through to December, following Wildwood Kin’s heart-warming harmonies running throughout his new album.
The band have also been announced to play in support of Fantastic Negrito at Bush Hall on September 15th and The Hummingbirds on October 6th at the Islington O2 Academy 2. For full Wildwood Kin tour dates visit wildwoodkin.com
